A collection of RPG-style characters who could use a better plot.

Trina Marlowe - the unit commander and a jack of all trades. Mostly trained with the crossbow and other aerial weaponry, though she also has some training with a sword. Finished both the courtesan and strategist training at the same time; she's incredibly intelligent and was considered a child prodigy at the Academy. She's worked with Mallory for years. She is the elder of a set of twins: her estranged sister is Trista.

Mallory Friedrich - the unit's healer. Advanced healing magic user. He and Trina entered the Academy at the same time and have been assigned together ever since. He has four sisters, was raised mostly by his mother, and therefore feels a particular kinship with other females. He and Trina have an on again, off again relationship.

Jade Sun - the unit's second in command and rookie strategist. Trained as a warrior who fights with a bladed staff/spear along with some familiarity in aerial weaponry. Copper's older brother. Hails from the Sun tribe. Ostracized for being gay.

Copper Sun - the main muscle of the unit. Trained as a warrior mostly in swordsmanship with some familiarity with other close-range combat weaponry. Jade's younger sister. Hails from the Sun tribe. Ostracized for running away and integrating into Outcast society.

Hawke Bainbridge - hails from a group of pirates, then the national fleet, then the Academy. He is trained in many types of weaponry with a focus on sharpshooting. He also has some natural Beastmaster abilities. Little is known about his family life other than being raised around pirates.

Violet Fair - an earth mage who nearly flunked out of the Academy's magic program due to poor performance. She has some experience in fighting with a staff but is by no means proficient. She is an only child raised out in the countryside.
